Account & access

Everything you need to get in, stay signed in and manage your library account.

How do I create a Tunu Library account?

Select Join the library or Register here. Enter your username, email and password, then submit the form. After registration, you can sign in and use the catalog, borrowing, reservations and dashboard.

How do I sign in?

Choose Log in from the navigation or open the login page. You can sign in with your username or email address and your password.

If you arrived from a book page, signing in will return you to the page you were trying to use.

Why does the navigation still show “Log in” after I sign in?

The navigation is rendered from the server-side session. The app must receive the session data on the next request before it can show your username, dashboard, notifications and Log out controls.

Refresh the page twice.

How do I sign out?

Open your profile menu and choose Log out. Your session cookie is removed and the public navigation returns to Log in and Join the library.

Catalog & discovery

Search the collection, inspect book details and find available copies.

How do I find a book?

Use the search field in the top navigation or open the Browse catalog page. Search by title or author, then use the available filters to narrow the collection.

How do filters and pages work?

Choose a grade or availability filter, submit the search and use the numbered pagination controls to move through the collection. Your search and filter choices should remain attached to each page link.

Why does a cover image look different on my phone?

Book covers are intentionally constrained on small screens so they do not dominate the page. If a remote cover cannot load, Tunu shows a title-based fallback cover instead.

What does “All reserved” or unavailable mean?

It means there is currently no available physical copy to borrow. Check the catalog again later or explore another title while copies return to the library.

Borrowing books

Borrow now without upfront payment, then complete the borrowing payment from your account.

How do I borrow a book?

Sign in, open an available book and choose Borrow now. The borrowing is recorded immediately without blocking you on payment. You are then taken to My Borrowings, where the borrowing and payment action are listed.

How much does borrowing cost?

Each borrowed book has a 100 BOB borrowing fee. This fee is separate from the annual membership fee. You can borrow first and pay later from the borrowing record.

How long can I keep a borrowed book?

Each borrowing has a 90-day borrowing window. The due date is shown in My Borrowings and on your member dashboard. Return the book by the displayed due date.

Where can I see my borrowed books?

Open My Borrowings from your profile menu, dashboard or the borrowing confirmation. Each record shows the title, borrowed date, due date, status and its 100 BOB payment action.

Why can’t I borrow the same book twice?

Tunu prevents duplicate active borrowing records for the same book and member. Finish or return the current borrowing before starting another borrowing of that title.

Membership & payments

Understand the separate annual membership charge and per-book borrowing charge.

How much is annual membership?

Annual membership costs 100 BOB and is valid for 12 months. Membership is separate from the 100 BOB charge for each borrowed book.

What am I paying for when I choose Pay 100 BOB?

That button pays the borrowing charge for one book. It does not pay or renew annual membership. The borrowing charge covers the 90-day borrowing window for that specific book.

How do I pay through M-Pesa?

Open the Pay action from My Borrowings, enter the M-Pesa phone number that should receive the prompt and choose Pay 100 BOB. Keep your phone nearby and approve the STK prompt if it appears.

What if M-Pesa fails or does not send a prompt?

Check the phone number, network connection and M-Pesa balance, then try the payment page again.

Do not repeatedly submit a payment if you already approved an M-Pesa prompt. Check your borrowing status or contact support first.
Why is the Pay button still visible after payment?

The Pay button disappears after the M-Pesa callback marks the borrowing as paid. Refresh My Borrowings after approving the prompt. If it remains visible, save the M-Pesa confirmation and contact support so the payment can be checked against the borrowing record.

Reservations, pickup & returns

Know what happens after reserving a copy and how to close a borrowing.

What do I need before making a reservation?

You need to be signed in and have an active membership. Membership costs 100 BOB annually. Reservation status is shown in your dashboard and reservation area.

What happens after a reservation is approved?

An approved reservation means the book is ready for pickup according to the library’s pickup arrangements. Check the status in your dashboard and follow the pickup instructions provided by Tunu.

Can I cancel a reservation?

Pending and approved reservations can be cancelled from your dashboard or reservations page. Completed or already cancelled reservations cannot be cancelled again.

How do I return a borrowed book?

Return the physical book through the library’s agreed return process before the 90-day due date. Staff or an administrator records the borrowing as returned. If you need help locating the return point, contact the library team.

What if my book is overdue?

Contact the library as soon as possible, explain the situation and arrange the return. Your due date is shown in My Borrowings, so check it before planning a pickup or return.

Dashboard & notifications

Keep track of activity after you sign in.

What can I do from my dashboard?

Your dashboard summarizes active reservations and current borrowings, gives you quick access to the catalog and lets you cancel eligible reservations. Use My Borrowings for payment details and due dates.

Where do I find notifications?

Signed-in users can use the notification bell in the navigation. Notifications may include account updates, reservation decisions and borrowing payment confirmations.

Troubleshooting

Quick checks for common problems with the app.

A page shows an error. What should I do?

Refresh the page. If the issue persists, note the page URL, the action you took and the visible error message before contacting support.

Why does the page look different on a small device?

The interface intentionally reflows on small screens. Navigation becomes a drawer, tables become stacked cards and book covers are capped so images remain compact and readable.

How do I contact the library team?

For account, borrowing, payment or reservation issues, include your username, the book title, the relevant borrowing or reservation ID and any M-Pesa confirmation details. Email library@tunupublishers.com for assistance.
